Description: 1961 Topps #40 Bob Turley New York Yankees High-end NM B61#40A1 This is a High-end 1961 Bob Turley card with excellent corners, straight edges and near perfect centering. Near Perfect centering Nice corners Beautiful back Vintage ‘61 Turley played 12 years in the majors—eight with the Yankees. The St. Louis Browns signed Turley in ‘48 and brought him up to the majors in ‘53; and in ‘54 he had his first full season in Baltimore. The Yankees acquired Turley in a big trade that saw a lot of players change teams. Turley prospered with the Yankees and had has his best year in ‘58, winning the Cy Young for his outstanding year and the MVP award in the ‘58 World Series. He had a weakness for walks, however. In ‘54, while with the Orioles, Turley led the league in strike outs with 185 and led the league in walks with 181. Likely, he drove a few baseball people crazy.
