Description: An antique pair of Staffordshire silver lustre John Bull/Toby figure salt & pepper shakers. The lustre is applied over a black/brown glaze that is characteristic of the Silver Lustre from. 1820. The silver lustre process was developed by Staffordshire around 1805 and used platinum. Other than that, they are in good antique condition with one shaker having a tiny chip to the base (see last photo). Circa 1820 - 1840. Dimensions are approximately 5" Tall x 2 1/4" diameter. Provenance: Obtained from the collection of a long time Staffordshire collector and dealer whose items have been featured in publications such as Myrna Schkolne's Staffordshire Figures 1780-1840
