Description: All-Bisque Native American Dolls G Nov Co. Made in Japan in Box 1940s-1950s This wonderful Native American pair of dolls, a boy and a girl, was manufactured by the G. Novelty Company in Japan shortly after the occupation of Japan. The company made dolls, naughty nodders, salt and pepper shakers, and bisque animals during and after the Occupation of Japan. Very rare to find dolls with this mark as the mark was only on a paper label on the bottom of the dolls feet; the only reason these dolls retain the mark is that they are in their original box and they look unplayed with.The dolls stand 3.5" tall, and are dressed in leather Native American outfits including fringe, moccasins and headbands. They have painted features and they are jointed at the arms. They have black floss hair. of dressed celluloid Kewpie dolls made in Japan in the original packaging. From a large collection of in-package dolls from Dime Stores. Dolls in the original packaging from this era (early 1950s), are very hard to find. These little Kewpies stand under 3.5" tall including their hats. Package says these are "Non-Inflammable Vinyl Doll" which is interesting, because I think they meant to say non-flammable. The dolls appear to be celluloid and not vinyl; impossible to say for certain since they are in the packaging. This little pair of dolls has jointed arms and legs, and they are dressed in skirts/pants, blouses, painted shoes, and matching felt hats (glued on). I think the one in the blue hat is meant to be a boy, and the one in the red hat is meant to be a girl (she has a molded bow in her hair). Molded hair and painted features. Condition In excellent condition in their original box (no box top) each with a metallic paper label on the bottom of the feet that has G in a black triangle with Nov. Co below it and JAPAN.
