Description: This American Girl Doll Kaya, 1st Edition 2002 NIB+ Meet Accessories & Stand is a special doll who will be very desirable to American Girl doll collectors. Kaya is part of The American Girl's Collection. She features a medium dark complexion, black straight hair, and brown eyes that open and close. Kaya is a Native American character from the Pacific Northwest Nez Perce tribe in 1764. She is the only American Girl doll with a closed-mouth smile. Nez Perce children do not share a name-each unique only to them. The American Girl company created Kaya’aton’my’ (ky-YAAH-Aton-my) which means “she who arranges rocks”. Kaya is made of vinyl, cloth, and plastic materials and comes with removable clothes, a soft body, and eyes that open and close. Also included is Kaya’s meet accessories set as photographed. (First edition also but have been out of the box.) This original and licensed reproduction doll is from 2002. An American Girl doll stand is also included for your convenience. This Kaya doll is special. She is a first edition doll who wears the original leather tie belt. (Converted to Velcro in later editions.) Her box is in good overall condition with a few marks as photographed. READ…look for discoloration above the center bead work on her blouse. From my research this appears to be intentional in the creation of this original outfit. Overall, she is an excellent vintage find and will become a wonderful addition for the serious collector. Also included is Steps High her Appaloosa horse & saddle accessory set. Steps high has some of the original protection for her legs and tail. She comes with her original packing materials.
