Extremely rare custom bound presentation copy from the school has inscription to front flyleaf “For Excellence/ In Junior Athletics/ 1949”. Choate school bookplate with previous owner’s signature to front pastedown endpaper. Gilt topedege, wonderful marbled endpapers. Clean unmarked text has some faint staining under the inscription on the front flyeaf and very slight discoloration to map of North America on page 372, and a dampstain on the fore & bottom edge (see photos). Very good hardcover, no dustjacket. Tight binding, solid spine. 8vo. xxii, (2), 533 pp. Illustrated from photographs, plates, line drawings, maps.
