ETHAN PECK 16x20 poster 10 Things I Hate About You ABC Family 2009 Star Trek

Description: This is an original, ultra-rare 16x20-inch promo poster sent out by ABC Family in 2009 to hype its new series "Ten Things I Hate About You." It features Ethan Peck, who plays Spock on Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. BACKGROUND 10 Things I Hate About You is an American television sitcom broadcast on ABC Family beginning in 2009. Developed by Carter Covington, the show is a half-hour, single-camera series based on the 1999 film of the same name. It premiered on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at 8 pm.[1] Following its initial 10-episode run, a second set of 10 episodes aired from March 29, 2010, to May 24, 2010.[2][3][4] The series was cancelled in April 2010. The series is based on 10 Things I Hate About You, which is itself based on William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. The Stratford sisters, Kat (Lindsey Shaw) and Bianca (Meaghan Martin), have just moved from Ohio to California. They have very different goals as they start at their new school (Padua High). It is clear that one sister wants to stand out and the other just wants to fit in. Kat is a cool, smart, strong-willed, forthright feminist who is looking to save the world and get out of school as fast as she can. When she meets the intense Patrick Verona (Ethan Peck), sparks begin to fly. Bianca is a social butterfly whose main goal is to be popular, but when the head cheerleader makes her the mascot, she realizes she has a long way to go. As they start a bumpy year at Padua High, Kat and Bianca attempt to navigate the popular crowd, boys, and their over-protective dad (Larry Miller). Bianca tries everything to be popular and become a cheerleader – although getting involved with the boyfriend (Chris Zylka) of the most popular girl in school (Dana Davis) creates new challenges. The pilot was written by Carter Covington, a self-professed fan of the film.[5][6] ABC Family green-lit the comedy in October 2008.[5] In November 2008, casting was announced for the pilot,[7] with production following that fall. In February 2009, the pilot was picked up when ABC Family ordered 9 additional episodes.[8] While Covington sought a "reimagined" adaptation, there are several connections between the pilot and the movie, which gave the pilot the same feel.[6][9] Gil Junger, who directed the movie, also directed the pilot and served as series consultant. Richard Gibbs, who was credited for the original music in the 1999 movie, also composed the theme music for the pilot.[9][10] In addition, Larry Miller reprised his role as the overprotective father, Walter Stratford. A cover of I Want You to Want Me by Cheap Trick (which was covered for the film by Letters to Cleo) was recorded by KSM. A music video was shot which featured members of the cast with KSM. The pilot was shot at a high school in Tujunga, California.[10] Due to budget constraints,[10] future episodes were filmed at a soundstage in Santa Clarita, California,[11][12] with only occasional external shots in Tujunga. Covington served as the series' showrunner, as well as an executive producer. He stated that he wanted the show "to feel like a John Hughes film every week."[13] Junger remained on board and directed seven of the first 10 episodes of the series. On April 29, 2010, executive producer Carter Covington announced on his Twitter account that the series had been canceled by ABC Family due to low ratings.[14] He later revealed his intended storylines for the next season in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.[15] Ethan Gregory Peck (born March 2, 1986) is an American actor. He is the grandson of actor Gregory Peck and his first wife Greta Kukkonen. In 2019, he played a young Spock in Star Trek: Discovery, a role he has reprised for the television series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022–present). Career Peck had many television appearances as a young actor, including a younger Michael Kelso (played by Ashton Kutcher) in That '70s Show. In his first film role at age 9, he co-starred in the made-for-TV film Marshal Law as the son of Jimmy Smits' character. He later appeared in the 1999 movie Passport to Paris starring Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, and was Mary-Kate's first on-screen kiss. Peck co-starred with Adam Rothenberg and Mariah Carey in the 2008 film Tennessee, followed by a co-starring role opposite Peter Coyote and Bebe Neuwirth in the film Adopt a Sailor. He won the award for "Best Actor" at the 2009 Sonoma International Film Festival for his portrayal of "Sailor".[1] From 2009 to 2010, he starred on the television series 10 Things I Hate About You on ABC Family.[2] In 2012, Peck played Prince Maxon for the pilot adaptation of the popular book The Selection, but was later replaced by newcomer Michael Malarkey. Neither the first nor second pilot was picked up to go to series.[3] In 2015, Peck became a spokesperson for fashion brand Salvatore Ferragamo and appeared in a number of print editorials representing the Italian brand.[4][5][6] He was also featured in Coming Home to Hollywood, a short film about the brand's 100th anniversary.[7][8] In 2016, Peck starred in The Curse of Sleeping Beauty and Tell Me How I Die. In 2017, Peck was cast in the comedy film The Honor List, alongside Meghan Rienks, Sasha Pieterse, Arden Cho and Karrueche Tran. It was released in 2018.[9] Peck portrayed Spock in the second season of Star Trek: Discovery.[10] In May 2020 it was announced that he would reprise the role in a spin-off, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.[11] Personal life Born and raised in Los Angeles, Peck is the son of Stephen Peck — a former actor, documentary filmmaker, and Vietnam veteran who was the former president and CEO of U.S. Veterans Initiative. His mother is abstract artist Francine Matarazzo.[12][13][14][15] He is the grandson of actor Gregory Peck and his first wife, Finnish-born Greta Kukkonen. Peck attended private schools Campbell Hall and Harvard-Westlake in Studio City. He excelled in athletics and learned to play classical cello.[16] He has a half-sister from his mother's second marriage, Marisa Matarazzo, who is a novelist and creative writing professor at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles.[17] After high school, Peck attended the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where he participated in the Experimental Theater Wing for three years before leaving to pursue his acting career.[18]
