Description: Please note that this is a pick up only auction. Offered for auction is a patented cast iron and steel (and or wrought iron) hand crank drill designed for stone. The side wheels center and clamp the drill in the proper spot. Composition 'pads' let into the clamp plates help protect the stone. Patented by J W Moyer in July 20 1875. Condition - Other than the newer green paint the piece appears to be in great original condition. 'Modern' set screws securing the crank handle and drill bit probably replaced original square head examples. I see no cracks, repairs or excessive wear. Two extra bits came with the machine but I have not checked to see whether their taper fits the chuck. A very rare piece for the collector of vintage stone working tools / machines.
