As it happens, it's also pretty hilarious. Flavor Flav was once primarily known as a member of Public Enemy, one of rap's most politically conscious and influential groups. These days he's more recognizable as the clock-wearing, gold-toothed star of his own reality program (Flavor of Love), putative boyfriend of the large and scary-looking Danish actress Brigitte Nielsen, and one-man freak show, and it's a safe bet that it was these accomplishments and not his talents as a rapper that earned him "roastee" status at this 2007 event. The various comedians ridicule his generally strange appearance ("like Idi Amin after a three-year crack binge on the sun"), especially his skinny physique ("Starving children send you 50 cents a day") and ultra-dark skin ("How do we roast charcoal?"); the utter weirdness of his relationship with Nielsen and his penchant for siring kids with a variety of women ("You're responsible for more homeless black children than Hurricane Katrina," says Kimmel) are frequent topics as well. Of course, the roasters spend as much time riffing on one another as they do on Flav, and while some fall flat (Nielsen's moment at center stage is rivaled only by Carrot Top's for most unfunny bit of the night), most are amusing enough to make for a surprisingly entertaining evening.
