TENSHODO HO BRASS #137 GREAT NORTHERN S-1 4-8-4 NORTHERN STEAM LOCOMOTIVE

Description: This Tenshodo HO Brass #137 Great Northern steam locomotive is a must-have for any model railroad enthusiast. With a DC power type and analog control system, this pre-built locomotive is ready to go and perfect for any two-rail system. The black color and painted features make it a vintage piece that will stand out in any collection.Made of brass material and with a wheel configuration of 4-8-4, this locomotive has a scale of 1:87 and a grade of C-7 Excellent. It replicates the Great Northern corporate roadname and is a perfect addition to any transportation-themed model railroad. Manufactured in Japan during the 1960s, this locomotive is a rare find that will make any collection complete. I disassembled, cleaned and lubricated the drive and wheels. I also replaced the flexible drive tube with high quality Santoprene tubing. I had to straighten and desolder the tender coupler pin as well as reattaching the headlight wire. This model runs exceptionally well at all speeds in both directions. It pulls my 6 brass passenger cars without difficulty. It does prefer 22 inch radius or larger curves. I will run on 18s, but it stutters a bit. It has exceptional low speed qualities for a brass locomotive of this era. As far as I can tell, it has all of the detail parts still attached. I own two of these, this one has the better details. I did some minor straightening of the cow catcher and a bit of touch up paint to the model. The headlight functions as it should. It does not come with its original box, but will be carefully wrapped in bubble wrap for a safe delivery.
