Description: This old art piece is in excellent condition for its age. Shows no issues. No tears, holes, creases, paper waviness, stains or foxing. The print is un-mounted: it is an old sheet of matte type paper sandwiched between the card backer board and the front wavy glass. Overall size is 20.5" by 16.5"; print size is 18" by 14". which was a standard size for many decorator type (as opposed to calendar type) prints from that era. The art is almost certainly (I think) from the prolific artist R. Atkinson Fox. There is no signature nor publisher notations. The paper is age-toned (tanned), which can be seen on the backside of the paper. I took this piece apart and cleaned the original bubble glass on both sides. Over the years I've acquired a couple of prints of this image, and I've noticed this print is rarely offered. The frame has solid, nailed corners. It is wood with a gesso coating and original gold finish that has aged to a rich bronze color. The solid corners are embellished with gesso decorations. Note the tiny cracks in the gesso that shows its age. The frame shows no touchups or repairs, but it does show appropriate wear for a hundred year old art piece. The wire hanger is original.
